About the course

'Soft Prototyping' is a term that refers the making, hacking, and fabrication of projects that demand flexibility, enabling an innovative way of communication and interaction. Digital fabrication has been increasing the boundaries of how and why we are manufacturing, working on a small scale, but in a high level of complexity. We want to understand what happens in these processes, and how we can make these processes easier, more enjoyable and accessible from a communication design perspective. This development includes not only the use of the machines but also an in-depth study of the materials as paper, textiles, bio-materials, electronics, and their applications, that can be explored in the FabLab. Practicing with materials allows a participatory process of learning and making by experimenting, creating feedback week by week in small assignments. With a final project development, the project will be documented from the very beginning in an online format. The final project must have a printed version.
